TWO-PLAYER WORD GAME
Who is playing?
Pick your name on this device. The other person opens this same page on theirs and picks the other seat.
The game stays saved, even if you both leave and come back.
RULES OF THE GAME
How to play
Rearrange every letter in each scramble to make one familiar English word. Use each letter exactly as many times as it appears.
Four levels of five words: Level 1 has 3 letters, Level 2 has 4, Level 3 has 5 and Level 4 has 6.
Squares are ordinary answer spaces. Letters in circles also go into the secret letter bank. Some words have no circles.
Play one word at a time together, in order from 01 to 20. No timer. Wrong guesses are free: keep trying until you solve it or pass.
Hint reveals the next letter from the left, just on your screen, for −1 point each.
Pass ends your turn on that word for 0 points. You can't answer it later, and hint costs still count.
When you have both solved or passed, reveal the answer. Its circled letters join both banks, then you move on to the next word.
After word 20, rearrange all 14 bank letters into the secret message. The higher total wins. Equal totals share the win.
Scoring
Correct answerPointsFirst correct
Each of the 20 words1+1 bonus
Final secret message5+5 bonus
You can both earn the answer points, but only the first correct answer earns the bonus. An exact tie gives no bonus. Total = answer points + first bonuses − hints. Scores can go below zero. The maximum without hints is 50.
Worked samples
Practice only: these don't score and don't appear in the real game.
Read only the circled letters, left to right: T · L O V · E R · U E. They're scrambled, so it isn't the message yet.
The hint gives the word lengths, here 4 • 4. Rearrange all eight letters:
TRUELOVE
Sample scoring
Solve CAT first with no hints: +2. Solve it second: +1.
With one hint, TAC shows C _ _. Solve first: 1 + 1 − 1 = 1. Second: 1 − 1 = 0. Pass: −1.
Message with one hint: first 5 + 5 − 1 = 9, second 5 − 1 = 4. Word lengths are always free.
Honour code: no dictionaries, searches or peeking at an answer key.
